Catholic Character
Our Parish
We have close links with our parish church St Francis de Sales and All Souls which is across the road from our school. Our parish priest visits the school each week. The children have regular contact with members of the parish – classes take turns to attend class buddy masses on a Friday. Sunday “Family Mass” for all children and their families to attend is held once a term.

School Mercy Values
Central to our Catholic Character is the “Mercy Charism” created by the Mercy Sisters who established the School in 1893.
We seek to instil these values in our students and actively uphold them in the every day life of the school.
The Core Mercy Values at St Leo’s Catholic School are:
Tika | Justice
Kaitiakitanga | Respect
Aroha | Compassion
Manaakitanga | Hospitality

Religious Education
Religious Education is an integral part of our curriculum. Children participate in Religious Education lessons for between two to three hours a week and will often have homework from the days lesson. This is a good opportunity for families to discuss the day’s learning and share with your child.
This site provides a wealth of spiritual knowledge and valuable information to assist families in the faith formation of their children. As part of our religious education programme all families can access the whanau book online, by clicking on the button below.
